Notes from the Lovell Neighborhood Watch Meeting: June 21, 2006:

For those who were unable to attend this meeting, it was the best, shortest, most informative meeting ever. There was a great deal of interaction with the Sheriff's department, and details of the closing of 14 Lovell cases. Home break-ins, cars, VFW, Bennett's Garage, Lovell Village Garage, and more are confessed to and wrapped up. A 16 yr. old male with 9 summonses is moving to NH with his father. The 18 yr old male with 3 charges is moving to MA. The 52 yr old female in question earlier has moved to NH. There are now 6 juveniles with burglary charges in Sweden, related to other open cases. Information is being sought from the public in an attempted break-in at Camp Tapawingo.

Strangers shouldn't be on any private property. Get a good description of the people and vehicle and call it in. Be sure to lock your vehicles! The difference in charges for breaking into an unlocked car and a locked one is turning a misdemeanor into a felony.

The guest speakers were Mary Fox and Kathleen Collins from the USPS. They discussed how to protect your home from burglary, and how to keep your home from looking empty when you are away. The most obvious thing to do is often forgotten - let the Post Office know to hold your mail when you are away. Not only will your mail not be stolen, which is an identity theft issue, but you also gain another pair of eyes who know that a moving truck shouldn't be sitting in your driveway. You may even send the Hold Mail notification via this web page. Here are more good ideas for home safety. June is Home Safety month.

Volunteers are needed for the "jail" booth at Lovell Old Home Days.
Call me about the nine signs available for $30 each for your business, which come with a free listing with your phone number, on this group's webpage.
A Zone 4, North Lovell, contact volunteer is still needed.
Thanks so much,

August 4, 2006
Hello,
This is a brief message to stay in touch with the Lovell Neighborhood Watch.
It certainly was a busy and hot July. Since we did not hold a meeting last month I just wanted to touch base with all of you. We are still very active and keeping those eyes and ears wide open.
We have received a few tips that were passed along to the police dispatch.
Keep in touch, know your neighbors and remember to report anything you do not feel is quite right.
The next meeting: August 23, at New Suncook School, at 6:30 PM.
Lt. Wainwright will be the guest speaker. He has a lot of information to share, so we hope you all can attend.
For our summer residents: Remember we have road signs for only $30, which you may purchase from me.
Till next time, keep watching out for each other.
