Next Meeting New Suncook School Cafeteria The second meeting of the Lovell Neighborhood Watch was held March 29,2006, at the New Suncook School. Approximately 40 citizens attended. Sergeants Matt Baker and Tim Ontnegco presented a program and answered many questions. There were hand outs explaining how the watch works, as well as decals for windows and stickers for emergency phone numbers. There was some discussion about incidents that have taken place in town. The possibility of a curfew for Lovell was discussed. The topic was tabled until further information is received. The officers reiterated how important it is for everyone to report all things that seem unusual. Every little tid-bit of information matters. Call 1-800-733-1421 (option # 4) and you may remain anonymous. There are now Captains for the four zones in town. See listing. We still need Captain volunteers and backup people for the West Lovell and North Lovell areas. At this time the town has been divided into four simple zones to help with communications. Lovell zone 1, Center Lovell zone 2, West Lovell zone 3, and North Lovell zone 4. The road signs designating the neighborhood watch are ordered and paid for by the town. There will be more information on sign placement at the next meeting. The group talked about informing summer residents of the watch and it was decided that I would notify people in the different associations in town. Please, if you know any of these people, talk to them and keep everyone informed that Lovell is working hard to be a safe community. With some keen eyes, we can make this work. There was talk of activities and programs for future meeting including representation at Lovell Old Home Days. Samantha Phillipe explained the web page and how simple it is to access the information from it. Not all homes have computers, so if you do, please share the information with a neighbor. The more we communicate, the safer we will be, and that means the watch is working well. There is a plan to send the group and meeting information home in the school newsletters. It was also reported that there is a bird feeder burglar in town, a black bear was seen on Christian Hill yesterday! The next meeting will be April 26, 2006 Wednesday night, from 6:30 pm-8:00 pm at the New Suncook School Cafeteria. I hope you will all attend, and remind someone else to join us, or offer them a ride. The elderly are especially vulnerable and need to be aware, so let's try to get them to the meetings and keep them informed. I need to say a big thanks to all, this is home to all of us and with the support of such a large group we can all be proud to say we live in Lovell. Always remember it is OUR crime watch group, we all matter and need to participate. There are two very hard working ladies that have remained in the background, but have done a lot of leg and paper work to get this program off the ground. Rose McKenzie and Rachel Kuvaja, a big thanks go to you! Remember how easy it is to belong to this group. No office to hold, no dues, just neighbors helping neighbors. Thanks so much, Roxanne Craig | |
