Next Lovell Neighborhood Watch Meeting
The topic this month was "Drugs" presented by Oxford County Sheriff Gallant, Sergeant Ontengo, Sergeant Baker, Deputy Harriman, and Maine State Police Trooper Adam Fillebrown. This was a large and detailed presentation of a slide show, actual drugs on display, Q & A, and first hand stories of drug busts and criminals in Oxford County. Once again the attendees were given real world information, and none of the TV and movie foolishness. If you were not able to attend the meeting or want to share some of the information you learned, go to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration drug information page and click on the topics: Cocaine, Heroin, OxyContin, Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Inhalents, MDMA, LSD, or Steroids. There are additional drugs linked alphabetically. See 8 pages of drug photos. If you want to discuss drug abuse with your child in a teenage format, see Think Twice and the National Institute on Drug Abuse site at Commonly Abused Drugs for a chart of drug information by type.
Sergeant Matt Baker gave the incidents and updates report. There are no new cases in Lovell. Please check your home alarm systems, be sure they do not go off accidentally, and your contact information is current. Links to CMP's power outage information page, and the Department of Transportation's closed roads update page were added to our main page after the recent storms.
Sheriff Wayne J. Gallant suggests that we get our passports now while there are no lines or long delays. The U.S. Department of State page has more information. The documentation list, fees list, and the form you need with you are here. You may apply at the Conway Post Office at 175 Main Street, 603-447-5160. It was advised to call ahead to be sure the passport person will be there to take your photos and application.
Thanks to Rachel for the great cookies and coffee! We need volunteers to be Call Captains of the Center Lovell and North Lovell areas. You would simply be a contact person between your neighbors and the tip line, in case someone doesn't want to make the call themselves. Reminder: Contact Forms may be printed here online and used anytime. Call to share a ride to the next meeting. Thanks to everyone for helping to keep Lovell a safer place for everyone to call home. Operation Clean Up 2007 April 23, 2007 Sheriff Wayne J. Gallant is pleased to announce that the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office will be offering “Operation Clean Up” this spring beginning the 2nd week of May to all the towns in Oxford County. This program offers an opportunity for the taxpayers of the County of Oxford to benefit from our Public Works Program by receiving a service to help clean up the roadways in their towns and also reduces the cost of housing the inmates that participate in the program by reducing their time spent in the Oxford County Jail as they will receive one day off their sentence for every two days worked. The two inmate trustees will be transported and supervised by an Oxford County Corrections Office to the scheduled location for litter and debris pickup for two (2) days in each town. It is important for the public to be aware that this will be taking place through out the month of May as the trustees will be working on the sides of the roads and the jail van will also be traveling very slowly with them. This program offers a great service to the towns at no cost and also reduces the cost of housing the prisoners at the county jail. Letters have been sent to every town in Oxford County offering this program and if they choose to participate they are instructed to contact Lieutenant Lauretta Sanborn, Programs Director for the Oxford County Jail, either by phone 207-743-5870 or email ltsanbrn@megalink.net. | |
