Sgt. Matthew Baker, Roxanne Craig, Chief Dane Tripp

Notes from the Lovell Neighborhood Watch Meeting: November 28, 2007:

District Attorney Norman Croteau, Esq. was our guest speaker. Did you know there is only one District Attorney for three counties?
Norm was a colorful, funny, and very interesting speaker. A revamp of the call sharing system is being discussed between the Sherriff's Department and the State Police. There were a lot of questions asked, and answered very well. Subjects were covered from the Maine legal system, to budgets and illegal immigration.
Perhaps the lure of more great pie at Rosie's will bring him back to town, and see us "normal people" for another meeting in the future.

Oxford County Sheriff Sergeant Matthew Baker gave the incident report. Trooper Adam Fillerbrown gave the State Police incident report. It was a quiet month with very few incidents. Deputy Tom Harriman later called in to ask us to remind everyone that there are a string of burglaries in the Brdgton / Sweden area and to keep an eye open for any strangers in town.

Find out what is going on in Oxford County and with the Tri-County Property Crime Task Force. A fundamental objective of this Task Force is to provide police assistance to all law enforcement agencies during multi-jurisdictional property crime investigations.

Drug dealers are selling colored crystal methamphetamine known as "Strawberry Quick."

Reminder: Phone scams are all the same. It doesn't matter if the caller says he is from Jury Duty, the IRS, the bank, the town, a lawyer's office, or anywhere else. They all want your information to steal your identity. Don't fall for it. Never give any information over the phone to anyone.

Here are the photos from: Lovell's Gasping Gobbler 5k Run/Walk. See you Friday night, December 7th, 6:00 PM for the town tree lighting and visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Winter is here and it'll be cold and slippery, so please watch a little closer for our elderly neighbors. We are open to suggestions on topics for future meetings. What would you like to learn more about? Thanks for pulling together as a very successful watch group in 2007. Have a very Merry Christmas and New Years. Please bring a friend to the next meeting. We hope to see you January 23, 2008.
