Notes from the Lovell Neighborhood Watch Meeting: January 23, 2008

State Police Lt. Walter Grzyb, State Trooper Chris Farley, and Oxford County Sheriff Sergeant Matthew Baker, were our guest speakers. On December 5, 2007 Aiming to achieve greater efficiency, several law enforcement authorities met to discuss a call-sharing proposal between the Oxford County Sheriff's Office and Maine State Police. Read. Under the new plan, the county would be split into three zones. Each zone would have both a deputy and a trooper working. Rotation would occur every week, but would determine which agency would be the primary responder to calls in the zone. As Lovell residents, we may still call any law enforcement agency for any reason. Emergency calls to 911 will be sent to the agency on call for us at that time.

Oxford County Sheriff Sergeant Matthew Baker gave the incident report. Read the Gilbert Telford Update. The Former SAD 72 substitute teacher is behind bars after pleading guilty Thursday in Oxford County Superior Court to possessing child pornography.

Update: Counties seek alternative to state jail plan. December 7, 2007. Officials from across Maine propose to make jails more efficient while retaining local control. Read.

The upcoming Child ID Day was discussed, and a tentative date was set in March. Volunteers are looking into funding for the kits, and helping on the day of the event. Please become involved and help us to provide every parent with this important kit that could be priceless if needed in an emergency.

If you took a green card, at the meeting, with the 2008 meeting dates on it, please add June 18 to the list.
