PARIS - A Center Lovell woman went to check out a burglary at her neighbor's house Tuesday, only to find her son passed out inside.

Oxford County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Matthew Baker said Jonathan Chase, 20, of 741 Sabattus Road, Center Lovell, was heavily intoxicated when he was found in a neighbor's house.

Baker said more than $1,000 in damage was caused to the home during the break-in. Chase was charged with class B burglary and class D criminal mischief.

He was taken to a hospital first for treatment of some cuts on his hand, Baker said.

Chase was booked into the Oxford County jail at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, still intoxicated at the time, according to jail records. As of Wednesday afternoon he had not posted the $10,000 cash or $75,000 real estate bail set for him.

Chase will be arraigned at Oxford County Superior Court on Dec. 21.

Chase has a history of burglary and alcohol abuse charges, Baker said. He had been released from the Cumberland County Jail nine days earlier, where he had served 14 days on burglary charges, Baker said.
